Guadalupe Center names Greethel Leon manager of Guadalupe Resale Shop

Guadalupe Center has promoted Greethel Leon to manager of Guadalupe Resale Shop, an upscale boutique on U.S. 41 in North Naples known for selling high-quality home décor, unique artwork and like-new apparel.

Leon previously was assistant manager and served as coordinator for the Resale Shop’s sold-out spring Fashion Show and Private Sale. She takes over for Kat McNabb, who retired June 30 after heading store operations for nearly nine years, including the transition from a smaller space in Naples to a larger storefront in North Naples.

“Kat has created an efficient, well-run retail operation that has become a premier shopping destination for fashionistas and bargain hunters,” Leon said. “Shoppers and donors are coming from Naples, North Naples and Bonita Springs, and we continue to see new faces who heard about us from friends, family members and neighbors.”

The Resale Shop has nearly 100 regular volunteers who assist the operation.

In June, the Resale Shop celebrated a sales and mission milestone – $1 million in gross sales revenue during the fiscal year, which runs July 1 to June 30. It was the first time surpassing the million-dollar threshold.

The Resale Shop accepts donations of like-new furniture, home décor, kitchenware, artwork, lamps, linens, DVDs and CDs, books and all types of ladies’ and men’s clothing, including accessories such as jewelry, purses and nearly new shoes. Volunteers and staff then process inventory to create attractive retail displays and ultimately generate proceeds that support life-changing educational programs for students attending Guadalupe Center.

“Southwest Florida is full of thrift stores, so we wanted to create an upscale shopping experience where you never know what high-quality treasures might await when you walk in the door – original pieces of art, custom furniture and designer clothing, sometimes brand-new with the tags still on,” McNabb said. “At the same time, we also sought to connect shoppers and donors with Guadalupe Center’s mission.”

Students in Guadalupe Center’s college-preparatory Tutor Corps Program regularly volunteer at the Resale Shop to process donations, price items, stock shelves, create displays, assist customers and ring up purchases. Photos of students are positioned throughout the showroom floor, while videos featuring students’ academic achievements run on a continuous loop.

“I am going to miss our volunteers and regulars, but am leaving confident that Greethel will continue our momentum,” McNabb said.

Guadalupe Resale Shop is located at 12980 Tamiami Trail North, Unit 10, in North Naples.
